Michael Phelps Get's the Last Laugh

He's on top of the world today, but it wasn't that long ago... Raised by a struggling single mom, far from privilege, Michael Phelps was diagnosed as a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He was relentlessly teased by classmates for his hyperactivity, his big ears and his speech impediment (a lisp). Now those who teased him as a child eagerly sign up to his My Space page as his “friend,” desperately seeking to associate themselves with him. What a difference a few gold medals make.

Three cheers for Michael Phelps, not for his gold medals but for his iron will; the man who gets the last laugh; a roll model for every kid who has been teased or bullied; the man that every man wouldn't mind being, at least for a day; the man any parent can point to, to encourage a child that comes home heartbroken or humiliated.
