Pakistan: Slouching Towards "Enlightenment"

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft bill seeking amendments to the country’s family laws with a view to enabling "women" who are married as minors to settle long-running family feuds to obtain divorce upon reaching puberty. the draft bill sought to provide relief to "women" who were married by their parents or guardians against their will. The draft bill provides for no punitive action against those who married the pre-pubescent girls.

Why does that remind me of the Borat line: "My country make great progress, women can now ride on inside of bus, homosexuals no longer must ware blue hat, and age of consent has been raise to eight." In Pakistan they would truely wonder why Westerners find Borat so funny.
